What sort of checks should be done?

This depends on the role. Our pre-employment screening includes but is not limited to the following basic checks:

- If the role involves access to company finances/cash on any level, we strongly recommend a Credit history check as the starting point.  This will uncover any adverse credit history of concern.

- Reference checks are essential. Does what they told you match with their employment history? Did they really leave for a change of environment or was there another reason?  They seemed really nice but in reality, will that person be a good ‘fit’ for your team and company culture?

- Full Driver Checks (current license status and demerit history) will give you peace of mind if the role involves driving a company vehicle or fleet car. This information will limit the chances of insurance claims being compromised by letting the wrong person behind the wheel.

- Criminal history checks are often the final piece of the puzzle and results are received within 3 business days.
